unikatissima’s Lace Knitters Advent Calendar 2010

unikatissimas lace knitters advent calendar 2010

The photo is extra small – it gives you just an idea of what you will knit but (hopefully ;-)) don’t spoil the surprise.

Note:
I opened a group unikatissima at ravelry where you can discuss this pattern and my other patterns, too.
You can register at ravelry with your username and a valid email address only, with all other information about you it’s up to you whether you give them (at least it was like this when I registered ;-)).

unikatissima’s lace pattern Christmas rose

About the pattern:

    The pattern is a

  • multiple of 16 + 2 stitches,
  • needs at least 2 edge stitches extra and
  • the whole length are 550 rows.
    For my shawl I knitted

  • 3x the pattern repeat (i.e. 50 sts) with
  • about 505 m sock’s wool (meant for needles of 2,5 – 3 mm) (ca. 120 g of wool) with
  • needles of 4,5 mm and
  • got a shawl of appr. 30 x 180 cm.

But the size always depends on your gauge and also on the way you knit
– I’m always knitting very loosely.

unikatissima’s lace knitter’s advent calendar 2010 is finished now, but the shawl is still most beautiful ;-))
Therefore you can get the whole pattern in just one file here at ravelry:

I have still more lace knitting patterns in unikatissima’s shop, partly free, partly for purchase.
You may find there something that you like, too :)

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern with us!
Sounds like a relaxing knit, offering us the possibility to spend daily an hour just to enjoy this time of the year. Normally most of us are much to busy doing this and that.
What about opening a thread in ravelry groups?
I think it would be fun to discuss the progress and maybe also “offtopics” like what I am going to cook for Christmas dinner, the perfect gift …everthing related to Xmas ?
    Have a great day!

  2. Yukia, thank you for the suggestion about the ravelry groups, I’ve never even thought about this ;-)

I will take a look and see what I can best do and then I will tell you here :)

  3. pj and nancy, there is no subscription!
Simply come here every day from Dec 1, 2010 on and find one row linked to the right part of the pattern.

    It’s all automatic ;-)
And I hope sooo that it will work ;-)))

  5. What a lovely idea! I am so comforted by the generosity and talented members of Ravelry. My grandmother used to say “the world is going to hell in a hand basket”, but I think not quite yet. A merry holiday season to you and yours.

  6. Hi Susann,
I have never done a “real” lace project before. This is my first one. Thanks so much for taking the time to post such a fun project for this holiday season. I am looking forward to taking an hour a day (or more) to work on something fun.
    Helen

  7. Thank you so much Miss Susann!! I have to play catch-up and complete 1-4 today, but it’ll keep me very quiet over in my little corner of Arizona (lol)
Have a lovely weekend, and thank you again for graciously sharing your advent gift to all of us!!

  8. What a great idea! Thank you so much for sharing and giving us the chance to experience a new way to celebrate Advent.

  9. I am LOVING this project – thank you so very much for making it available and in such a fun way.

  10. I would love to start the project but must finish a commissioned sweater for Christmas THEN I will start on it ASAP
Thank you for the lovely project.

  11. I love doing this project so much that I can’t wait for the next day’s chart and my daily hour of ‘me time’. It’s looking really good for someone who’s a nervous lace knitter!

  12. Thank you, Susann, for sharing your pattern. Was wondering…will it still be available after the 24th? Will be traveling soon and unable to retrieve the instructions until after the 30th. Don’t want to miss a single portion of this beautiful pattern!

  13. Shirley,

Thank you for your nice compliment and you won’t miss anything: as I wrote just before the list of links: Note: After Christmas I will offer all patterns in just one file”

Have a good journey and a good time!

Love Lace!!!

    Liebe Gruesse,Ulrike

  16. Ulrike wanted to know the names of the different patterns.

I can’t give them because I designed everything myself and didn’t use the patterns of others.
Due to the technique (lace knitting) they may (will?!) of course resemble other patterns.

Thank you for beeing so thoughtful, but I am very well in your English blog. ;)))
    Regards, Ulrike

  18. Ulrike wanted to know, how many hours it took me to design the shawl.
    Hm, let me count…
    eeendless hours ;-))

In fact I really can’t say how long, I don’t remember when I started and then hurried to finish it in time ;-)

  19. Thank you so much for this lovely present. I am actually almost keeping up and it is looking lovely. Thanks again.

  20. This is a beautiful sampler. It would make a wonderful piece as a teaching tool because there are only easy stitches.

  21. Sharon and Kathy,

thank you, it’s so great that you like to knit it :)
And I’d never felt as a teacher, but then: why not ;-))

  22. Is there any chance this will be put out in written form? I “cannot” read the symbols in a chart because of a brain problem but would love to make this beautiful shawl.

  23. Thanks for the beautiful pattern. Love the advent idea. And I especially love how all the lace patterns fit together from one day to the next. Great job!

  24. Sandi,

    someone wrote the pattern already.
I will include it into the one-file pattern after Christmas, so if you wait a little you will have it in a written out version, too.

Please note, that ‘after Christmas’ doesn’t necessarily means on Dec 25, 2010, it is possible that it takes another couple of days.

    Have a good time :)

    Aileen,

    thank you :)

  25. Thank you so much for making the days 12/21 thru 12/24 available to print – I was so excited to get them printed out so I can take the whole pattern with me on my holiday travels to family.

I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderfully Happy New Year!
    ~M

  26. Thanks so much for the quick update and the opportunity to get the last days in one go!

  27. Thank you so much for the lovely pattern. I am a day or two behind, but hope to be finished by Christmas Eve. A very happy holiday to you.

  28. Love all the beautiful lace patterns and really appreciate have the last few days ahead of time. Thank you for sharing with is.

  29. It’s really been a pleasure and as for the ‘opening’ of the missing files: I knew that some people wanted to make the scarf as Christmas gift and I’m glad that you can use them, too :)
