Cross Stitch Patterns Treasures

myauntsattic Cross Stitch Patterns

I found a blog where the author fetched the cross stitch patterns of an old aunt from the attic and published them.
I saw beautiful patterns thereby and it’s not as if you had to work cross stitch only with the patterns ;-)

The blog is written in Netherlands and English (the italic text), but the patterns can be recognized anyhow ;-))

Elastic Polymer Clay Bracelet

craftster Elastic Polymer Clay Bracelet

I found at craftster a fantastic instruction: how to make cute teapots from bulbs and polymer clay, how to make great candle holders from bulbs and polymer clay, how to make a genie lamp from bulbs and polymer clay (although she doesn’t say how to get a genie into the lamp ;-)) and how to make an elastic polymer clay bracelet from the left overs (ok, somewhen I had to come to the point ;-)).
Sheer lunacy! :)

Polymer Clay Tsunami Cane

unikatissima Polymer Clay Tsunami Cane

Loooong ago I found the tutorial on how to make the polymer clay tsunami cane and tried it then immediately.
I find the cane really beautiful, but unfortunately I made more of a disk that I couldn’t reduce anymore.
It lays since years cased in a plastic bag and seems now to be quite hardened and brittle ;-(
But I can’t throw it away yet, I could still get an idea about what to do with it ;-))

What Can You Do With Filet Crochet/Cross Stitch Embroidery Charts?

unikatissima Two-coloured Chart (click to enlarge)

Recently something took me and I thought that you can use those two-coloured charts which are usually associated with filet crochet or cross stitch for a loooot of other techniques, too.
I had this idea already before, in my entries about intarsia knitting, the cross stitch heart, the beaded square stitch heart and the polymer clay letter cane.

On the photo you see some letters worked in different techniques (I’m working on letter charts at the moment ;-)):
'u' - Knit-Purl Knitting, each X is a purl stitch
'n' - Fair Isle Knitting, each X is a white stitch
'i' - Sequins Embroidery, each X is a sequin
'k' - Tapestry Crochet, each X is a white stitch
'a' - Filet Crochet, each X is a filled filet crochet square
't' - Cross Stitch Embroidery on paper, each X is a black cross stitch
'i' - Loom Beading, each X is a black bead
's' - Stamping with square stamps, each X is a black square stamp
's' - Illusion Knitting, each X is a black stitch over two rows
'i' - Crochet Yoyo’s, each X is a white crochet circle from dc’s
'm' - Inverted Filet Crochet, each X is a empty filet crochet square
'a' - Macramée/Friendship Bracelet, each X is a white knot

But then I came up with more techniques and if you still have more ideas I’d be glad if you wrote a comment about.
I added for every technique what would be a square of the chart.
Please remember: Not all ‘units’ are square so that the result can look quite different from the chart!

Making Hollow Tube Beads from Polymer Clay

Polymer Clay Central Hollow Bead

Ok, the title isn’t the best ever made, but the bead does look beautiful, doesn’t it? ;-)
I have it on my have-a-go-at-it-list for a long time already but it keeps being pushed down by other projects.
Now I place it back to the top ;-)

Connie Fox’s Brangles

Lapidary Journal Connie Fox Brangle

‘Brangles’ is a made-up word that is put together of ‘Bangle’ and ‘Bracelet’.
That sounds quite dry but fact is, that I find her jewelry her jewelry fantastic and I think it’s great that she published in internet an instruction instruction on how to make such pieces.

Polymer Clay Letter Cane

unikatissima Polymer Clay Letter Cane

I found a very cute idea at glassattic: letter canes from polymer clay.
Somebody writes there: ‘I made a nice letter cane using the mosaic “pixels” method taught by CityZen Cane…turned out nice!
….tip: wrap the letter itself with a sheet of background color before adding mthe rest of the background color, to avoid “chinks” in letter’s edge’

In other words they worked in a similar way than for the Checkerboard Cane: they rolled out two different coloured sheets from polymer clay, cut them into stripes and put those stripes together to a ‘pixelated’ letter cane.
The letters from the Celtic Cross Stitch Generator could be used as templates.
Or, if you don’t want to make a letter, perhaps my Cross Stitch Heart!? ;-)
I already prepared the first letter of my name, but I won’t have the time to make such a letter cane very soon.
Sigh.
;-)
