Spaghetti Scrap Scarf

Circe Spaghetti Scrap Scarf With I-cords

Again something to use up your stash: the Spaghetti scrap scarf.

In fact it is nothing else than a lot of I-cords that are connected in different ways.
And I find that it looks great! ;-)
There is another Spaghetti scrap scarf, but you can best see how different they can look when checking the ravelry pattern (unfortunately with registering only).

I have already begun to knit I-cords but unfortunately I find it nothing but boring, so I doubt that I will ever make such a Spaghetti scrap scarf.
But who knows? ;-)

Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf

unikatissima Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf

I know the instruction on how to knit the multidirectional diagonal scarf for a long time, and eventually I managed to try it out: on a really tiny scarf ;-)
As long as I tried to understand the pattern, it didn’t work, but when I obstinately followed the instruction without thinking, it worked great.
And the moral of the story: Always act as if daft ;-)
I don’t find it hard at all ;-))

I really like the pattern and I hope that I will make something ‘real’ from it one day.

Lamar Scarf

unikatissima Lamar Scarf

Via ravelry I found the instruction on how to make the Lamar scarf which I find great!
On the photo you see the beginning of the scarf I’m knitting at the moment (that’s all I’ve knitted for now ;-))).
She made her scarf in a chunky, soft yarn, I’m using thickish (about needle size 5) acrylic yarn.
Usually I’m knitting much too loose, my knitted scarves are mostly quite see-through and they have to be wound several times around a neck to warm.
This here will stand alone when finished ;-))
But I’m knitting it for myself and therefore I can live with it – anyhow I find it beautiful.
By the way, I’m knitting it in black, but I fiercely post-worked the photo to show more than just a black shape ;-)

Shibori Felt Scarf

bishugelabs flickr Shibori Felt

I found an interesting technique: tying scarves in Shibori technique and then felting them.
On the picture you see some photos you can get when searching flickr for the tags ‘shibori felt’.
Really great, aren’t they?

Stash scarf

unikatissima Stash Scarf
Once I found a great blog entry where somebody showed how she’s working her stash and scrap yarns into a scarf. Unfortunately I don’t find the entry back ;-(

In principle she sorted her stash according to colours (her example was made in blues) and from each yarn she crocheted a long row, every row even in another crochet stitch.
I hope that the photos are a help.

unikatissima Stash Scarf I found the result so stunning that I made a birthday gift for a good friend from it ;-)

By the way, this can surely be done in knitting, too!?

Lacy Crochet Scarves From Edgings

Lacy Crochet Scarves From Edgings

I love to crochet lacy scarves, but I don’t like to always work the same pattern.
Therefore I was looking for some patterns for such lacy crochet scarves and didn’t find what I was searching for.
Then an idea stroke: What is a lacy crochet scarf but two edgings back-to-back?

Lacy Crochet Scarves From Edgings
On the first photo you see one of my scarves made from a handkerchief edging from a magazine I bought. I used acrylic yarn. The second one is from a towel edging from another book. And for the third I first crocheted a middle strip which I surrounded afterwards by a self designed edging.

Addendum: By the way, I found this idea so clever, that I entered this post to the This Thursday is all about… challenge 3 Clearly Clever ;-))
Therefore Tracey’s comment ;-)

Broomstick Lace Scarf

Broomstick Lace Scarf

After I have found tutorials on how to make Broomstick Lace I wanted to try it (for tutorials see Links below).
I like lacy scarves. So I made a scarf from it.

Broomstick Lace Scarf
That is how I did it:
Material:

  • Yarn (I used acrylic yarn)
  • Matching crochet hook
  • Dowel / Ruler / Cardboard tube (as you can see I used a cardboard tube)

Instructions:
Row 1: Chain as much as you want the scarf to be long (I chained 240). It must be a multiple of 4.
Row 2: Crochet every chain with one Broomstick Lace loop.
Row 3: Take four Broomstick Lace loops and crochet 1 sc (single crochet), 1 hdc (half double crochet), 1 dc (double crochet) and 1 sc (single crochet) around the four strands.
Do this with all groups of four Broomstick Lace loops until the end.
Finish this side and begin again at the other side of your first chain to work the second half of your scarf.
