Sturdy Mail Envelopes

Cornflower Blue Sturdy Mail Envelopes

I showed before how to make mail envelopes from gift wrapping or the like, but sometimes mail envelopes are too flimsy (sometimes much too flimsy ;-)) and one needs something sturdier.
Then you simply make mail envelopes from cardboard.
Cereal box seems to look nice ;-))
(By the way: we had a TetraPak CD case before).

However I doubt that you then can make a gift bagalope from your sturdy mail envelopes ;-)

Simple Napkin Holders

Ordinary Miracles of Life Simple Napkin Holders

Do you still have some cardboard tubes?
What about some simple yet really beautiful napkin holders?

The flower that looks like a rose (Satin Flower) is made in the same technique than the textile roses here, by the way.

Apart from that you can of course use different yarns instead of cord, perhaps even funky yarns?!
Possibly it was fun to use coloured yarns and little plastic toys or Lego pieces as decoration.
And it would look beautiful to make the napkin holders more in the way of the string decorated ornaments, you need less cord then ;-)
But you must paint more ;-))

And then you can always come back to my knitted/crocheted napkin rings ;-), they can be made on a cardboard tube, too, of course.

Recycled Roses

alisa burke Recycled Roses

I find these roses from fabric or paper most beautiful, even without wreath!
And it seems that they are easy to make, which does no harm! ;-))

They should look great for jewelry, too, for a ring or earring e.g.?!

If they’re not exactly your cup of tea simply look for flowers from fabric or flowers from paper ;-)

Round Crocheted Cardigan

junghanswolle Round Crocheted Cardigan

I wrote an entry about round knitted/crocheted cardigans already, now somebody has send me (thanks, Monika!) a link to a very nice round crocheted cardigan.
New link to different but also round crocheted instruction: Modell 124/9, Rundgehäkelte Jacke.
Grumble! Although I find the patterns of Junghanswolle beautiful they become obsolete too fast for my taste.
That’s why I give now in the links of entry a list, one or two round crocheted cardigans will hopefully stay available ;-)
What I find makes it special is the fact that it includes a graphic which shows where to put the arm holes and the size of them – this way it makes it possible that I design my own round knitted/crocheted cardigans.
Whether I will be able to finish it is just another question ;-))

Nature Bracelets

mayamade nature bracelets

What a cute idea: Before going for a walk you take a piece of tape around your wrist (sticky side at the outside! ;-)) and while walking you stick on a lot of beautiful leaves and flowers.
When you’re coming home you have a wonderful nature bracelet.

She seems to have done this in springtime but the fall leaves also look great.
And by the way you can cut open the tape at home and use it for a card ;-))

PET-Inspirations

Miwa Koizumi PET project

I wrote several entries about crafting with plastic bottles (see links below), this one is more of an inspiration: I’d like to present the PET-project and the wonderful PET jewelry.
Fantastic, aren’t they?

Card with Paper Ornament

unikatissima Card with Paper Ornament

I found the umpteenth instruction on how to cut a snowflake from paper, but this time the snowflake looked so much more beautiful than usually.
I made immediately a card with non winterly coloured advertising junk mail paper :)

Self-made Cookie Cutters

unikatissima Self-made Cookie Cutters

Fancy some camel cookies? ;-)
I found the instruction great, especially because you can make all sorts of shapes.
For me, a simple flower is enough – hoping that spring will come swifter ;-)
But I haven’t begun yet…
By the way, I assume that you can use the cookie cutters for needle felting, too.

Needle felting with cookie cutters

unikatissima Cookie Cutter Needle Felting

Via craftzine I found a tutorial on how to felt a needle brooch using a cookie cutter.
She used flower cookie cutters, but now, where Christmas isn’t really far away any more, we can dig out the Christmas cookie cutters: stars, moons, Christmas trees, but also hearts etc.

I couldn’t try it yet, but I intend to. And if it works (what I’m assuming ;-)), I want to try to make my own ‘moulds’ from cardboard stripes.
I’m agog ;-)
