Home-built 3-D Printer

evilmadscientist Solid Freeform Fabrication

Evil Mad Scientist is always good for a surprise.
He presented a kind of home-built 3-D printer which works with sugar!
Great to make your Christmas tree ornaments ;-))

I really don’t think that I will build such an item, but I found it very interesting ;-)

Cold Porcelaine

espritcabane Cold Porcelaine

With the recipe for cold porcelaine you can mix an air-drying clay with which you can make jewelry, beads and similar things.
I find air-drying a big advantage against fimo and similar polymer clays which have to be baked. I always need a good ventilation for the baking which I find hard to realize with cold weather.
And you can put the jewelry or the beads i.e. into the advent calendar boxes :)

Lemon Tea Sugar Scrub

craftster Lemon Tea Sugar Scrub

Actually I wanted to present fillings for the advent calendar this week, but this Lemon Tea Sugar Scrub which is described as ‘smelling really yummy’ won’t presumably not fit into the boxes ;-)
But you can put at least a gift coupon into the advent calendar.

It is absolutely on my somewhen-I-will-make-it-list ;-)

Edible Snowflakes

Something else for an advent calendar: Edible Snowflakes.
You only take ready-made tortillas and cut snowflakes.
Brilliant!

Edible Stucco

haus Edible Stucco

Yesterday I presented boxes, today I have something you can put into: edible stucco.
To make it you buy molds for making stucco from plaster and fill them with sweet stuff.
On the photo they present a marzipan stucco element, but I’m sure that it works as well with chocolate.
As a matter of course the mold has to be unused and therefore neat and clean.

Make your own pralines

craftster Coconut Kiss

I’m beginning to think about making an advent calendar.
This time I’d like to wrap some self-made pralines which is the reason that I searched for recipes.
Wow! Again there exist gazillions of links, you can find some links below.
On the photo you see a ‘Coconut Kiss’, the recipe can be found at craftster. It seems to be simple and delicious, I put it on my list ;-)

Edible Origami – Crane Croutons

unikatissima Edible Origami-Crane croutons

Once again an idea I love: origami cranes as salad croutons (or the other way round? ;-))
Anyhow.
But I guess its too time consuming for me. ;-)

Flour Glue

unikatissima Flour Glue

I already presented the Rice Glue, here is an instruction for making flour glue.
It seems that it can be used very good for paper or cardboard and if you increase the amount of the ingredients (and add a little turpentine) it seems that you even get wallpaper glue.

What I really appreciate is, that those glues are non-toxic, that I don’t have to buy stuff to make them and that the making doesn’t seem to be too tedious.
