Plastic Funnel

instructables Plastic Funnel

Sometimes you need a big funnel – why not cutting the top of a plastic bottle and use this?
I find this instruction great again: with little means reaching something practical and additionally recycling :)

By the way you can use those funnels, too, when pouring little beads from one container to the other, I don’t like to use my kitchen funnels for this.

Incidentally you can use up the rest of your bottle, too ;-)

St.Petersburg Necklace

Cut Out + Keep St Petersburg Necklace

I found a beading tutorial for a beautiful necklace, the St. Petersburg necklace.

Doesn’t only look wonderful but seems to be easy to make, but I have to try this yet ;-)

Additionally I found (but unfortunately I can’t remember how) a PDF-file with this tutorial: Stitch a St. Petersburg to make a lariat or necklace designed by Hatsumi Oshitani (PDF – ca 600 KB)

Ladder Rings

unikatissima Ladder Ring

I found the Ladder Rings where they added a link to the (free) instruction. But you have to register there and I don’t like this.
So I figured out how I would do it and that’s what I came up with (it may be that their instruction is completely different):

That’s what you do:

unikatissima Ladder Ring
You need two sizes of beads which are to be linked as seen in the diagram.
If you’re ready it doesn’t look very good because there are really gaps between the little beads as in the diagram.

That’s why you pull the thread once more through all little beads – the ring is finished.

unikatissima Ladder Ring Caution: The second step tightens the ring considerably.
I made my first ring much too narrow because I didn’t know that it gets smaller in the second step.
Unfortunately I can’t say how much.

At the second try I did it differently: I repeated the first step until I thought that it should be enough, then I pulled the thread through the little beads on one side and tried if the ring fits.
It didn’t, so I pulled out the thread from the little beads, repeated the first step two more times and then it was right.

Beaded Tubular Net

unikatissima TubularNet Necklaces

For a certain time I worked tubular nets, e.g. to make necklaces like the ones on the photo.
I find them beautiful and that a simply eye catcher like the beaded freeform bead is enough. Additionally they are wonderful soft because the tubular net is so elastic.

unikatissima TubularNet Glass Tubes detail You can use tubular netting as well to bead glass tubes like at the bead and wire wall vase or to bead little bottles.

Beaded Hyperbolic Planes

The Institute For Figuring Beaded Hyperbolics

Today again more an inspiration than an instruction, nonetheless fascinating: beaded hyperbolic planes.

And while you’re at The Institute For Figuring you must absolutely take a look at the Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef!
Wow!

Needle Felted Bracelet

theartofmegan Needle Felted Loop Bracelet

I found a good tutorial again, this time about how to make a needle felted bracelet.

I put it directly on my list, because I think it is great as a base that can be embellished e.g. with bead embroidered Paisleys or bead picots but also with ‘just-embroidery’ like the cross stitch heart, the freeform embroidery or the Embroidery Crust.
Additionally you can make matching earrings and a pendant for a necklace.

Beaded Square Stitch Heart

unikatissima Bead Square Stitch Heart

Because it’s not long to Valentine’s Day any more I’d like to offer a template for you to bead a heart with square stitch (for instructions on how to do the square stitch see links below).
It’s great to make a card but can be made into a piece of jewelry as well.

Peyote Triangle Bracelet

thisyearsdozen_wordpress Peyote Triangle Bracelet

Recently I browsed the internet for Peyote bead work and this way I found the instruction on how to make a Peyote triangle bracelet (see instead this diagram).
Looks great, doesn’t it?

My to-do-list gets longer and longer ;-))

Bauble – Knitted Bead Cuff

unikatissima Bauble.jpg

I found at knitty the instruction for the knitted bead cuff ‘Bauble’ and really liked it.
Therefore I wanted to knit at least a bit to see how it looks.
Because I don’t have any bigger beads at the moment I used some left over paper beads.
But I didn’t manage to knit the bead string at all.
I really must try it again when I’m a little more untroubled because I really find Bauble beautiful!
